Black Grouse Islay Blend Wins Gold Medal

Recently launched Islay blend The Black Grouse took a gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge, the Publican reports.

The Black Grouse was first introduced in June as a richer peated blend of The Famous Grouse (BevMO $18). Since then it has picked up several honors, critical success that signals consumers are growing more receptive to stronger, smoky flavored scotch, according to its makers.

“We are seeing a trend towards more challenging whiskies and flavours,” said Gerry O’Donnell, director of The Famous Grouse.
